Improving the Website
We want Logos Bible Study to be the most comprehensive, in-depth Bible study resource on the planet! We also want it to be intuitive and easy to use, so it will become a part of your daily life. The site is a “work in progress” that will develop and grow as we move forward. We would love to hear your feedback.
Please let us know how the site working for you, new things you would like to see . . . and any other constructive criticism you may have!
You're right, there is! Thank you for pointing it out.
I remember recording that lesson, but it's not where it's supposed to be! We're looking for the file now, and we'll post it ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience.
As you suggested, our Facebook page is up and running, with 500+ fans in the first two weeks. Jump on and post away! Be sure to put some pictures and videos on, too. This will be the core of our global LBS community.
Also, the RSS feed is now available and working, allowing you to receive updates to the blog, forum and breaking news, as they occur.
Thank you for the very good suggestions!
Greetings Hank,
You can subscribe to the RSS feeds which are located at the bottom of this page. Just scroll all the way down and you will see a banner that says "Subscribe to RSS Feed" like the sample image below.
To subscribe, simply click on the name of the internet search engine that you prefer.
There are also RSS feeds for Dr. Creasy's Blogs and Breaking News.
You will have to navigate either to the Forum, Blog or Breaking News RSS banner to subscribe since this example banner is only an image, not a clickable banner.
Please let me know if you have any problems with the RSS. You can also email me directly at membership@logosbiblestudy.org.
Thanks

Russ--We started a Logos Bible Study Facebook page! The site's home page now links directly to it. You can visit the page, join up, post thoughts, photos, videos, etc. That's a start! We're also working on an RSS feed.
Great ideas, Russ! I'll put them in the hopper.
I do have a Facebook page, and there is a link to Facebook on the site's home page (bottom right). Tying Facebook more directly to the site is a good idea, though. Perhaps we could start a Logos Bible Study Facebook page where Logos students could interact directly with each other?
Thank you and God Bless you for this study. I am disabled and unable to attend regular bible study at my church. Your audio studies are just super. Thank you also for making the subscription affordable. Disabled people just don't have money to spare. Regarding the audio series, do you have a published list of the order in which the books are covered? I did Genesis and Matthew, now where do I go next? Thank you again SOOO much.
Thank you for your kind words about the web site. It's very good to hear that Logos Bible Study is helpful to you. I'm honored and blessed that you are a Logos student!
Regarding the order of the books for study: it's partly planned and partly whimsical. In live classes I alternate between the Old and New Testaments. I do so for two reasons: first, most people are more familiar with the New Testament than with the Old, so I have to get to the New Testament fast. If we began with Genesis and pushed through to Revelation, it would be year 5 before we got to Matthew! Second, by weaving back and forth between the Old and New Testaments, I can weave the fabric of Scripture. The Old Testament foreshadows the New, and the New completes the Old. It's a nice way to demonstrate the unity of the text. Beyond that, I group books that go together: Exodus/Leviticus are a pair; Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs are a trio (all written by Solomon); Luke/Acts go together; and so on. Sometimes I just like to get to a book in the New Testament because we've been in the Old Testament for a while, and vise versa.
I'd recommend following such a pattern, although there is certainly nothing wrong with a more open approach: studying the books that most interest you at the present time, that follow a set liturgical order, or that are part of another class you may be taking.
I do plan to write detailed curricula as the site develops. I think this would help guide newer Bible students, and it would also help teachers use the site for Sunday School classes and so on. This is in the hopper.
The lesson order through Corinthians and Kings is as follows:
-- Genesis
-- Matthew
-- Exodus
-- Leviticus
-- Mark
-- Luke
-- Acts
-- Numbers
-- Deuteronomy
-- John
-- Joshua
-- Judges
-- Ruth
-- Romans
-- 1 Samuel
-- 2 Samuel
-- 1 Corinthians
-- 2 Corinthians
-- 1 Kings
-- 2 Kings
After Kings, I am not sure. Does he go to Chronicles because that continues the story of the divided kingdom, or does he go back to the New Testament? I hope this helps, and I hope Dr. Creasy posts the full plan when he gets back from Egypt.

Seems we dropped the ball on James! The ending lectures are missing, as you point out. We have to round them up, edit them, and get them up on the site. They should be there shortly after Christmas.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
But it is a little tedious to go to each lesson, click to get to the listen page. Then right click to download the file. Then go to the next lesson. Etc. It would be really nice to be able to click on something and download a whole book, a whole quarter as it used to be called. Something to think about.
I was worth the wait. What a terrific job. Thank you for all the attention to detail. The audio lessons are all there, and I needed my update because I ran out of lessons back in the summer. Adding video is a great idea. The bible text on the iPod is just awesome! What a great idea. The fellowship forum really adds a lot and I expect it will be a great place to ask questions and discuss what we have learned. And you even have a blog and a travel schedule. I am really, really impressed. Oh, and I love the photos too!
A few suggestions (nits really):
1) The "Bible Study Resources" menu on the right says "Audio Bible" and "Video Bible". I have an audio bible that I really like, and it keeps me busy when I am not listening to your bible study lectures. A different term to describe the audio bible study would be clearer.
2) Integration with Google Maps... Oh, that's already in your plans. Great idea though. I would love to see this happen.
3) Additional diagrams or links to additional material. I was thinking it would be very handy to have a picture or model of the 2nd temple in Jerusalem on the site. Certainly this would help during many of the Gospel lessons. I remember in class how you used to point to the map and say, "Imagine this map as the temple platform..."
If this is difficult, perhaps just link to such a thing on the internet. You don't have to put all knowledge at "logosbiblestudy.org". Link to Wikipedia, BibleGateway, or another bible study site.
A picture of the Ark, the Ephod, the first temple, and the Tabernacle would be good too.
4) A course outline would be really, really helpful. I know you teach Genesis, Matthew, Exodus, Mark, etc., but new students will not. Also, by the time we get to Kings (where I am), even I start to get lost. Is Kings before or after Corinthians? Hmm.
Well, that's it for now. Thanks so much for an awesome website!
Yes, I recorded Nehemiah 8-13 just last week and will have my Web Administrator post it today!
Thank you for your entusiasm Athisfeet!

Paul: From Sinner To Saint works properly now. Thanks Dano!
Silly Sosthenes Bible Blast title has been corrected. Thanks athisfeet!
Top 10 Polygamists - Solomon has been corrected. Thank you russluv!
Russ--Now THAT is some proofreading! We must have watched that video a hundred times, and no one caught the typo. A+ to you!!
Great idea! We'll put that in the queue.
Very good points you've made.
We've used "silver" and "gold" so as to allow room for "platinum" and other stuff later on. I'm not sure what those memberships would include, but we haven't painted ourselves into a corner!
I hadn't thought about the maps being displayed in a separate pop-up window while audio or video plays, but it is exactly what we should do. We'll put that on the list of things "to do" for the next round. In the meantime, you should be able to click on a map, enlarging it, and then print it as a pdf, placing it on your desktop so it's available at any time as a separate window.
We had planned on inviting a limited number of users on Friday, via an email invitation, but there are still some bugs to be worked out within the membership function, so we're delaying the invitations until Monday, as we fix the problems. They're minor, but we want things to work smoothly. I did speak about the site in class, though, and Facebook and One Place have been directing traffic to the site since yesterday, so we are getting visitors, like yourself. That's OK. Please do not sign up for a membership yet, though, until we're certain that everything is working correctly. Monday should be the day.
I'm writing in paragraph form now; let's see if it posts correctly. . . [Hum, the "preview" posts in paragraph form, but the actual post has several lines between paragraphs, as it is here, not the one line that I entered when composing the text--kind of funky. Let's see if we can correct this.]
We're picking up speed, heading toward launch! Yesterday we moved the site from developer to public server--and, yes, a few bolts fell off and we dinged a door in the move, but all the nuts and bolts are bring tightened, the ding removed, and the site is glistening brightly in the sun in full public view.
Building the site has been a big, complex, and expensive job, and we want to make sure that everything is working properly before we show it to the world. As one of our web site team members said: “We’ve build a very cool, shiny new Ferrari with a big engine that growls like a lion, but before we put the top down and speed down the freeway, we need to back it out of the driveway and circle the block very slowly—to make sure the wheels don’t fall off!”
If you're reading this, we're asking you to be a test driver!
Here’s what “test driving” entails:
· Log on to www.logosbiblestudy.org
· You will find that you can engage the site in one of four ways—
o As a totally “anonymous” visitor (someone who simply finds the site on Google, for example). As an “anonymous” visitor you can watch the Home Page video “Bible Blast”; listen to the “Weekly Audio”; and listen to the “Daily Podcast.” You can also poke around the site, seeing the extent of the content. You cannot play audio or video in the “Bible Resources” archives, however, and you cannot post on the “Fellowship Forum” or “Dr. Creasy’s Blog.”
o As a “Free 30-day Trial” member, you can watch all videos; listen to all audio; read all written material; and read and post on the Forum and Blog. As a trial member MAY NOT download material, however.
o As a “Silver” member you may do everything a trial member can do, plus YOU MAY download all audio and written material to your computer, iPod, iPhone, etc.; attend Logos seminars, conferences and retreats; and travel with us on our teaching tours. This is a monthly membership.
o As a “Gold” member you may do everything a silver member can do, PLUS you save 20% on your membership and 5% on all Logos tours. This is an annual membership.
· Drive the site around in whatever “engagement category” you like, poking here and there, seeing what’s available. The membership functions are active, so you can be an anonymous visitor, or you can be a trial, monthly or annual member, if you choose.
· Please post about your experience during the NEXT FIVE DAYS on the “Fellowship Forum,” under the topic “Improving the Web Site.” We’ll be monitoring the posts very closely (as well as your activity on the site) and responding to any problems that you may encounter.
If for any reason you are unable to post your experience to the forum, email me directly at Dr_Bill_Creasy@logosbiblestudy.org. PLEASE DO NOT CALL JOYCE AT THE LOS ANGELES LOGOS OFFICE! The web site project is housed in San Diego, where our dedicated web site staff is prepared to address your questions and problems.
As Paul said when he first visited Ephesus, “a great and effectual door has opened,” so I see www.logosbiblestudy.org as an enormous opportunity to create a global audience for the Word of God. If we do this right, we will take a giant stride toward taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth!
Please keep me, our staff and our project in your prayers. And thank you for being among the elite group of “first time users!”
The lectures on the “Audio Resources” page are nearly complete, lacking just the final half dozen or so lectures on Revelation. I’m recording these live this fall 2009 quarter in our San Diego Thursday morning class. Teaching through the entire Bible verse-by-verse takes about 7 ½ years, so I’m also re-recording the lectures on earlier books of the Bible and replacing them with more current lectures. This is an on-going project.
We currently have 15 video “Bible Blasts.” I just shot 15 more on October 31st, and they will be up on the site once they’re studio edited, probably sometime in December. We’re then scheduling 15 new “Bible Blasts” each quarter for the foreseeable future, aiming for 360 in total. We’ll add other on-site teaching videos from our tours and post them tour-by-tour.
The “Fellowship Forum” and the “Dr. Creasy’s Blog” are works in progress, and we’re counting on you to post and comment, populating these sections with your content, making them richer day by day.
Logos Bible Study aims to be an “active” site, a gathering place for the Logos community where you can meet and make friends, study Scripture and share your life and faith.
This is your site. Please be an active participant!
Theses are REALLY good suggestions!
1) Having a "How to Use the Site" is great. The heart of the program is the 45-minute audio lessons in "Bible Study Resources/Audio Resources" section. These are audio lessons I've recorded in front of a live audience, weekly for the past 7 1/2/ years (I didn't count them up, but there are 10 classes each quarter, 2 hours each, so 20 classes of 45-50 minutes per quarter. There a 4 quarters per year. And the course takes 7 1/2 years. That's about 600 class sessions, verse-by-verse, Genesis through Revelation). The "Bible Blast" videos are 5-10 minute curious and entertaining "investigations" on a variety of topics, characters, etc. Having a road map for using it all is a GREAT idea!
2) I agree on your thoughts about the maps. They are important to the lectures, and they should be in a separate pop-up window that you can see while listening to the audio. We'll make that correction in phase two, once we know the site is functionally solid. Meantime, you should be able to print the maps to your desktop as pdfs. On my Mac I can simply click on the pdf and use command+ to enlarge the map, go to close ups and move around the map using the scroll bars.
In Version 1.2 I want to have the maps interactive: clicking on a place will bring up photos that we've taken on site, a description of the site's history and biblical relevance, and the ability to zoom down to it using Google Earth.
3) Your thoughts on group blogging are right on. I anticipate that the "Fellowship Forum" can fulfill that function. The Fellowship Forum's usefulness will depend on users' willingness to create topics, post and reply, as we're doing here. I can see that this will take some guidance and leadership on my part. As the site develops, I'd also like to incorporate live "webinars," video conferencing (like "Go to Meeting") and live streaming video. We need to use these technologies as we move ahead, giving the site greater immediacy and usefulness.
Creating a community will be key to accomplishing our mission with the site.
Thank you for the thoughtful and insightful feedback!
